This morning's sunrise, from the bus ride down 6th Ave E.
I zoomed in to try to get the most city crud out of the shot as the sun was absolutely stunning as it rose over the lake. I wish I had been somewhere just taking time-lapse shots.
Not bad for out a filthy window on a moving bus eh.
Another shot.
If the bus had pulled ahead a few more feet there would have been no trees in the pic.
Warm sunshine, and blue skies; what more could you want.
Almost better than yesterday as there wasn't the cool breeze,
but not as I had to go back to work, and couldn't fully take advantage of the day. I did walk around the yard, surveying what snow remained and found this cap
I drove back to work so I could make a fast escape afterwards.
Arriving home, I tossed my things in the back door and went out to the garage to get some deck chairs. Just two for now, in case it snows more. (It's still tourney time ya know.)
I then grabbed a rake and proceeded to rake all the tar chunks from last fall's street patching out of my boulevard grass. There were heaps of small and several really large chunks as you can see in the following pics, not only in my yard, but all up and down the block. I had written about this last fall too, knowing it would come to this. What a waste. Go Duluth.
I also raked out by the garage a little bit and picked up all the sticks strewn about the backyard from the big maple that uncovered during the melt, and out the front where the city workers left behind a mess from trimming the boulevard tree. They came back and chipped the big stuff, but left the sidewalk and yard smaller branch bits - gee thank guys. Three of them had been walking behind the shredder the other day - one driving the truck pulling it, and another truck following. Five guys and there is still debris left behind. Go Duluth.
I cleaned and filled the bird feeders and water bath/trays, rehung my Mexican Sun/Moon that fell down during the winter, and picked up the pieces of the broken sun wind chime.
All totaled, I was out for about an hour and a half after work playing, sweeping, raking, consolidating the cans I pick up when I walk, arranging yard things, and just enjoying the extended sun hours as well as warm temps. It felt so good.
Back shot of garage and parking area.
All that remains of the backyard snow.
No more snow in the parking area. Too bad the neighbour is such a slob.
I wonder if this year she'll get rid of that dead refrigerator that's been there for 9 months.
I can't wait for the yard to dry out more so I can rake that too.
Happy 15 Mar. 2010!
