Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. The SUN Returns! and Saturday Stuff

Woke to a poke in the eye from el Sol!
 It's about time you've returned!
The last Saturday Farmer's Market was pretty sparse. Only a few vendors were left; most of my favourites gone and done until the Holiday Market Day in November. Picked up some treats and veggies for the week - well til Wednesday, which is the last actual market day for the 2012 season.
Considering I missed most of the summer season, I really was lucky to be back for most of fall. I got to help with the new roof, taste a few new items and close out the year with some of my fave peeps.
Thanks All!

Later I stopped by the Scandinavian Festival at First Lutheran Church. I should have gone earlier as many of the meat sandwiches I wanted to try again were gone. I did, however, get a gjetost cheese sandwich, a bowl of wild rice soup, butter/cinnamon/sugar lefse and a lovely slice of pecan pie. Total cost $5.25. Can't beat that. I don't know how they keep their items so cheap. Sandwiches $1-2, Soup $2, Pie $1.25, Lefse $1 -and fresh made while you watched. All of it so delish.

Later while working online I kept hearing a tapping, and couldnt't figure out where from, but it sounded like someone was in my front porch. I don't have a doorbell, and people often knock very lightly on the front door or door glass of the storm door. So I went to have a look, and no one was there, but on the left window pane was a Black Capped Chickadee! Poor buggar had flown in through the mail slot and couldn't find it's way out. I started to open the front door, then got wise, realising that might just invite it into the house, so quickly I went round the front and opened the porch door to let it free. Afterwards I realised I should have taken a photo. Ah well. As Renan would've said, "For Your Eyes Only." ;-) When I returned to the kitchen table there was a flutter of activity at the seed feed dishes I had on the deck table. I couldn't help but think the poor bird had flown round to have a treat after it's short distress. A few weeks back, a similar tapping noise was going on and I discovered it was a woodpecker on a neighbour's house two doors up from mine. That bird was relentless on the wood siding around the upper floor. The woman there kept coming out to shoo it away - I'm sure it had to be pretty annoying inside the house :P and it kept coming back - musta found some good bugs. She finally opened the upper porch door and let out their cat. Soon the bird was gone. It did, however, return on and off for a few days before finally going away.

Later I had a visit from my friend Jake for a couple of hours - which was quite pleasant. He's a pretty busy guy and is up early, so didn't stay too long/late, but enough to satisfy overall. He's pretty interesting to talk to and it seems we have some very similar outlooks about people we've had in our lives.

All-in-all it was a pretty uneventful day. I should have done more outside. It started out sunny, went grey, flaked on and off, then later in the afternoon the sun came back out for about an hour before dark. I should've gone for a walk or worked more in the yard. Ah well, there's always tomorrow.
