Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. WHAT A SHOW!

After they sorted the bandwidth for the online streaming video feed, the sound was great! The camera could have used a bit of work, as it was never clearly focused, even on close-ups, but a bit of blur to it, and even worse from the far shots.

The pics they claimed to have taken from online they've posted on their site, were absolutely awesome, but none of the online feed I ever saw looked that crisp at all. Too bad.

Missed most of Trampled by Turtles due to the feed bandwidth issues - but what I did hear was great! Good job boys!

Roma di Luna was lovely overall, but there was a bit of a disturbing comment made by Channy about being "afraid that someone would throw a tennis ball at my head," later thanking the audience "for not killing me." Odd. Otherwise, she sounded great, as did the rest of the band, even though they were introduced as a duo. She was also the first person to swear on stage - announcing that she was about to sing "When I Die" when she meant "I Will" by the Beatles stating, "I fucked that up."

Jeremy Messersmith was a class act, appearing with a full band all in white suits, and playing his music so clear and sweet. This was only the second time I've seen him live, and he puts on a great show. Fans are not disappointed.

Brother Ali was next, and I have to admit, I listened to the first two songs, as my son is into him, but really, the sound seemed off and most of it sounded the same to me. I like hip-hop to a point, but to me it more seemed as if he was screaming and yelling vs. rapping and his DJ Antony kept randomly yelling into his mic and sounded so off, that it was off-putting - to me anyway. Sorry bro - no votes of goodness or positivity from me. I did, however, like the lyrics/spoken word to your first song. After the second, I pretty much muted things until it was time for the headliner.

Free Energy - HOLY FUCK! What a fun band. I've listened on the radio, to youtube, myspace, their site and love their stuff, but to see them live fuckin ruled! I wish it wasn't just online-live, but that I was there at First Ave, but tix sold out so fast, that I'll have to try to see them another time. Fun and HEAPS of Energy, and so good for dancing! I danced their whole set - fun shit!

The encore with all the groups doing "Funky Town" was great!
Thanks 89.3!
Thanks for Six Years of MN Goodness!
And Happy Birthday!

At least the sound was perfect!

Dancing on and off for 5 hrs
