Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. August - My Month! Bring it!

Walked to work - was a good morning for it. El Sol nearly made an appearance, but not quite - perhaps later in the day like yesterday we will be graced with his presence.

If you follow my blog, you should know that August is my favourite month.

Many good things happen in August, it's my birth month for one, and two, I share it with my friend Art - her birthday being today, mine a week later - Let the celebrating begin!

Happy Birthday to mah sistah - A the J!

It's our month girl!

w00t!

August also brings many fairs and festivals, including the Bayfront Blues Festival. One of my favourite - not because I am a huge blues fan, but because it's tradition that I go (I've only missed 2 ever) and work with the NVVA pouring and serving beer, as well as reconnect with many friends, and it's like having one of my very own birth month celebrations.

Today I am only gonna work til 2:30 then start havin some Sunday. Hopefully the rain will hold out - but if not, no biggie, I have plenty of things indoor and online to do to both celebrate the day and relax.

Today is also Emancipation Day for all our brethern. Yes, it is also celebrated here in April, but for many, their real recognised day is 1 August.

I took the bus home early afternoon and had a visit with my friend - he still is very melancholy, but it was good to see him, have a bit of a chat and share some hugs anyway. I was disappointed he hadn't changed his mind about pouring beer for Blues Fest, but respect his wishes all the same and will find someone to take his place for those shifts. Abrazos mi amigo!

So, after lunch it had cleared up some til around 6p when it started sprinkling.
Gracias el Sol for making your appearance on this first day of August.

The plants on the deck called for some attention and I discovered that there were a few string beans ready between two meager plants. Better than none I guess. I'll have to cut in them into pieces to pretend there are more than four beans. I was very disapointed that for all the bean seeds planted, so very few even sprouted (the two) and for how small they are, they are producing a fair amount of beans. Maybe next year.
However, there were more than a handful of red ripe cherry tomatoes, even though both of those plants which are varieties expected to produce many fruits, seem to be well under their capacity for this time of year. A guy at work who grows tons of tomatoes, said that his are all growing and producing poorly as well, so I didn't feel so bad.
