Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. New Neighbours!

So....I hung my old birdhouse a friend's father had made, after it was down for a couple of years due to a missing nail and broken hanger piece. I really should have hung it back up sooner, but I kinda just forgot about it.

Now that it's up, I've noticed that one of the little latches on the bottom is broken too, but too late to repair that now, as last night I noticed a pair of the little red/grey birds have moved in.
I had a mate over for grilled dinner Sunday evening and just happened to look up and behind him whilst we were talking/grilling and then noticed the pair; one perched on the little perch and the other on rooftop. How cute! He was excited as I was!

He also brought me a sun catcher for my deck - I have to find my staple gun to get it properly attached, then I'll add a photo. *coming soon*

Too bad last night the blogger was down before bed and I couldn't post - but in a way it was a good thing as I was too busy last night to take photos. Today as I worked clearing the strawberry bed below the bird house of weeds, the pair were most busy bringing in nesting materials and chirping, singing and also seemingly chatting to me, comfortably.
One of them kept rummaging through the all the wood
I have stored in the old fort, bringing out small twigs.
The other kept diving down behind the raspberries and currants
coming back up with more smallish pieces for the nest.
They were not afraid of my presence so close. I believe this is because they've seen me out on the deck all spring as they've come to drink from the dish there in the corner and eat seed.

Later I heard some loud tapping and turned to find one of the Jay's at the feeder tapping furiously at it, barely hanging on. It seems the Jay's are a little too large to sit on the perch and reach into the portals. The feeder is meant for smaller birds, yet the Jays seem to love the fresh and plentiful seed made available there to them, so they have to perch on one side, then bend around the corner to the next side portals to be able to reach in for seed. Ah well. A little work never hurt anyone.

Later as I was closing up shop before work, I looked out of the sliding glass deck doors to notice all of the fallen lilac blooms scattered on my deck. They looked almost snow-like. *shudders* I hate to even say the 'S' word in June, but if this was the sort of view I was treated to in Dec or Jan I'd never complain.
Enjoy!
