Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Ugh! Not Again!

Once again, I've been informed that my hours are to change to adapt yet again.
Once again, my boss, has no part to play in helping to cover said hours,
and the night/evening guy pretty much has no issues, it's just my hours that
will end up being mix and match to cover the spaces until further notice.

Grr.

At least school is finished, but man, it'd be nice to just have my regular days back,
even if I had to work Sats, but now I have to work Suns too. GRRRRRRRRRRRR

I so relish my Sundays off.
I had made so many personal plans for this Sunday:
To grill my snapper Renãn got for me
To play outside in my yard
To go hit my fave garden centers for the first time this year
To sleep in some
To watch my fave ABC Sunday Morning
To sort the house some
To just sort myself for the coming week.

But Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Those plans will all have to wait until Monday,
which is fine,
but it's still not
Sunday.

Sunday.
A day of rest and relaxation.
A day of rejuvenation.
A day for me.

Plus, my son was to come home this Sunday,
and we were to celebrate a belated Mother's Day.

So much for that until after work.

I know, it could be worse.
But I was only just told I'd get to work all days except the Wed eve and Sats.
I could deal with that.

I did, however, work the new schedule to my advantage.

He said pick more evenings,
but, keep a day shift
and add Sundays
and make sure and take two days off -
in a row if need be.

Well, I looked at it all,
and given I need Tues nights off,
it was either work days Tues, or take Tues off.
PLUS, there was NO WAY IN HELL I was gonna set myself up to work any back-to-back shifts.
(too many weeks of working Fri til 11 then back at 8a Sat have taken their toll - not to mention last night til 11 then days today. I was for sure NOT going to make that mistake and deprive myself of even more sleep.)

SO...Let's review:

Our work week starts on Sunday.
Sundays are required.

Sun: 8-4:30
M
Tues: 8-4:30 or Off
Wed: 2:30-11
Th
F
Sat: 8-4:30

That just leaves, Monday, Thurs and Fri to deal with.
Hmmm, No back-to-backs.
Monday or Fri 8-430 makes for long weekends.
Thurs day = killer from Wed night.

After careful consideration, I pick Thurs 230-11.
This adds a required extra evening - so that the evening guy has his two days off (W/TH)
and keeps me in check as far as no back-to-back.
AND AS AN EXTRA ADDED BONUS:
Mondays & Fridays OFF!

Perfect really.
As far as I can see anyway.
Got any better ideas?

**Edit** after a week I switched to Thurs/Fri's off and it was well worth the back to back shifts.
