Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Saved in the Second Half

Sure, another gorgeous Saturday, not just sunny, but actually warm.

Once again, I had to spend the bulk of it indoors at work.
I did manage to walk down to the library, then hop my friend's bus to the other end of downtown to finish distributing my allotment of Homegrown Field Guides to a couple of businesses that were closed last evening. Walking back to work I was tempted to not return and instead spend the day in the warm sun. However, I knew better and then stopped to pay a bill and managed to pick up some lunch, then grudgingly found my way back to the office. ye-ha.

As usual, the workday was mundane, and boring. Not to mention, not one fun person was there to make the day go any better. Lucky for me I had two of my online mates who kept me company for a better part of the day, as well as that quick bus visit - thanks guys!

After work, I again hopped the bus for a read of my Human Geography book and then a bit longer visit with my friend. One route turned into two as the conversation was flowing, even though it wasn't all happy, I sensed it was good I was there, as a sounding board, and to perhaps try to help make some sense of recent events. *shrugs* I hope it helped; it seemed to at least. Sometimes all you can do is listen, and give hugs of reassurance, for strength and support.

¡Abrazos!

Returning home around 7:30p, I then decided to head out onto the deck for a couple of hours to enjoy this unseasonably warm evening. Such a warm, calm night. I decided that a fire was in order and promptly started a small one in the Weber there next to me on the deck. First fire of the year! Once lit, I treated myself to a Lake Superior Brewing Company seasonal Split Rock Bock brew. Mmmmm. Along with that I had a small slice of popeye bread, and then a bit later, pan sauteed a tilapia fillet, along with a bit of asparagus, then had my dinner outside under a canopy of stars. Quite nice.

Just after 9:30p I went back inside, full, tired, and smelling of fire. Gawd I love that smell - in the air, and on me. The whole house has a bit of that smell, and reminded me that in one month, I'll be camping for my PE course for school, smelling fires again. I can hardly wait, as not only will it fulfill my credits, as well as provided a much needed getaway, even if it is only up north. It will be fun to see who the other 15 students are and what that course will be like. My friend has generously offered the use of a pack for the trip as well. Pretty nice I thought. Thank you!

I didn't take any pics today, but I have many in my mind (for your eyes only as my friend always says) of the clear blue sky, the bright sunshine/sunrise, the blue, blue lake, Saturday lunchtime activity downtown, my friends' bright smile and warm eyes, bus people - work people (damn near one in the same those two), a quiet deck with birds visiting, a setting sun, a clear black sky filled with stars, a crackling fire, the taste of simple but great food, and the sounds that accompany all of those, along with heartfelt warm hugs.

I truly was saved by the second half of my day.

I hope yours was even better.

Cheers!
