Well.
10:30p-5:30a - the best in a long time.
And, I was able to fall back to sleep until 8a.
Lots of things have been happening over the past week or so.
Deep thinking.
Anticipation.
Reflection.
Sorting
All taking their toll on my time, patience, stress and emotions.
NYE didn't really feel like NYE to me, nor did NYD feel like NYD.
Not that there is a certain way to feel about either of those days,
I just didn't feel particularly festive. They were just days, like any other, except one day I didn't work.
A long ride yesterday afternoon helped to sort and put things into perspective.
Chatting online and in person with a few mates helped as well.
I also received a limited text from my daughter which meant a lot.
I came out of Saturday feeling heaps better, and today felt like it being Sunday, the start of a new week, was also my New Year's.
So I celebrated.
After I made brekky for my son, and packed his lunch and saw him off to work, I cracked the bottle of Champagne I had purchased for NYE and made myself a nice brekky of prawns, steak and a bagel and sat up here in my room basking in the sunshine enjoying it all as well as the view of the lake.
One of my mates who had helped me through this melancholy feeling came online so I thanked him for being him and helping me to see things in a different light.
Actually I'd have to thank all three, Paul, Andrew and Renãn for all they said and did to help me to feel better over these past few days. (Now don't think I felt really bad, or was hugely depressed or anything, it was just a few things with work, school, and relationships I've been mulling over that they all helped me to see better, or, differently.) Thanks guys! You rock!

So today, I took a ride to try to find my Sun pin I lost the other day and ran back up to the scenic overlook just below Enger Tower. It wasn't there but I did pick up 2 aluminium cans and tossed them in the trunk. On my way out I looked up at the hillside towards the tower and noticed a doe and a buck. I pulled forward and snapped these two shots of them up in the thicket.
This old snowmobile fired up reluctantly from the parking lot nearby and ventured out to the fishing shack.

I then drove downhill and across the bridge for a ride to Park Point to capture the sunset over the bay.
Ice fishing houses abound.

As I stepped out onto the bay, I noticed a rather large crack and a cool chunk of ice.

Post Sunset..looks Ghost-town like except for the waving flag to the left.

Afterwards, I drove back towards Duluth stopping at the beach to check out the waves.

A view of the waves and Duluth in the background.

The sound was so relaxing. Too bad the cold was becoming unbearable to my phalanges.

These are a bit blurred, but I liked the way the sun reflected off the buildings downtown.

A Panorama of waves with Downtown Duluth in the background.
Strolling slowly towards the sun
Green-eyed lady, ocean lady
Soothing every ragin' wave that comes
Green-eyed lady, passions' lady
Dressed in love
She lives for life to be
Green-eyed lady feels lifeI never see
Setting suns and lonely lovers free.
Green-eyed lady, wind swept lady
Rules the night, the waves, the sand
Green-eyed lady, ocean lady
Child of nature, friend of man
Green-eyed lady, passions' lady
Dressed in love
She lives for life to be
Green-eyed lady feels life I never see
Setting suns and lonely lovers free
