The weather this morning was sunny and warm - well warm for this time of year.
As the day progressed, clouds moved in, winds shifted from off the lake to out of the east (15-25 mph, gusting to 30. Tomorrow Gale Force warnings.) creating some decent sized waves by early arvo. My bus driver mate was droolin to get out there - too bad his shifts don't allow for that before dark. Walking downtown to the bus stop in a skirt proved challenging, but up here in the neighbourhoods away from the lake was a bit easier.
On my way home there were bits of broken branches along the way, nothing sizeable, until about a half a block from my alley where I came upon some broken up birch. Just the right size for my grill too! Naturally, being the scavenger that I am, I snarfed them up and stored them for safe keeping for my next deck fire.
So far there are two bonuses to wind:
