After stopping at the hardware store for a few supplies (of which I later abandoned all use due to the extent of the prep work) I arrived home, quickly made lunch as it was already after 1:30p, then hurried outside. I pruned the front tree some, ripped out dead plant matter, brought out some plants from indoors that I had rescued too late as they died even with my best intentions from frost damage, sorted my compost bin - stirring it and adding new materials, then moving the newly made compost to the 'ready for use' side. Sprted a few things in the garage, then cut the oregano for drying, brought my yard waste to the city's compost site ( I compost here at home, but bring the vines/stalk-y stuff to that site as it would muck up my small composting operation here - and since there is no charge and they can sell the compost later - I feel as though I am contributing.
Later, after returning home, I worked outside more just randomly pulling stalks/weeds and also checked to be sure the gutters and downspouts were properly attached and angled.
Then inside for some dishes and to weather/waterproof my rain jacket/parka.
Cheers!
Took all my yard waste I don't compost to the WLSSD Yard Waste Compost Site - the stalky stuff and cleaned that area.
Stirred and organised my compost bin. Ready to use compost on the left as well as a full bucket for winter use indoors, leaves and food scraps on the right. The bin has collapsed/cracked more on the left due to age, but I think I can get another year out of it.
Cut Oregano ready for drying indoors.
My Asters, the fall favourite late bloomer finally did just that.
The plant became kinda gangly this year, maybe due to moving it,
or it's location, not sure, might have to move it again next year.
