Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. August Full Moon

I had hoped that the sky would be clear enough to photograph tonight's Full Moon, but it's looking like it's gonna be too overcast.
**Update**
Here are some pics from around 10p

I Googled™ some information on this particular Full Moon and here is what I've found:
Full Moon Names
Historically the Native Americans who lived in the area that is now the northern and eastern United States kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to the recurring full Moons. Each full Moon name was applied to the entire month in which it occurred. These names, and some variations, were used by the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior.
Our Moon Phase Calendar provides the exact date and time of full moons. Click on the month names below to see the calendar for that month.
August
Full Sturgeon Moon
Some Native American tribes knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this full Moon. Others called it the Green Corn Moon or the Grain Moon

August 6 - Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. The eclipse will be visible throughout most of the Americas, Europe, Africa, and western Asia. (NASA Eclipse Information)

Full Moon Lunar Eclipse - August 5-6, 2009
Lunar eclipses are like super powerful Full Moons. The Sun, Moon and Earth all align on the same plane, and for a few hours, the Earth blocks the light of the Sun from reaching the Moon. The Earth cuts off solar consciousness from the reflective power of lunar unconscious. There is a pause, a held-breath, when we get to see what's there in our lives without indulging in our usual emotional complexes. Lunar eclipses clear things out of our lives, especially issues from the past. But if we let go of something, we need something to replace it. We need a new story.

August 2009 – The Full Moon, Lughnasadh, and the Harvest Table
This is a very interesting and introspective article.

Wishing Moons - Wishing moons are the full moon closest to the cross quarter holidays. Quarter holidays are the solstices and equinoxes. The cross quarter holidays are the 4 days equidistance between solstices and equinoxes, thus February 1st, May 1st, August 1st and November 1st.

So for today's harvest:
3 tomatoes
2 cups of raspberries
1 bag of current berries
6 on the 6th
Make a Wish!
I've made mine.
Here's to hoping they come true!
Cheers!
