to summer and the weather has been crap.
Didn't start out too bad on Sunday (yesterday)
but as the afternoon went on, the wind switched and temps cooled.
Later, round 4:30 the sprinkling started, and was rain by 5p.
It rained the rest of the evening, and into Monday.
We needed it, but it was hard to take as areas away from the lake were in the 80's and sunny, whilst we were consumed both days by fog and cooler temps.
55 on the bank clock at 4:30p. Yikes!
Seems the last day of spring, beat our first days of summer.
Hopefully, this won't be the norm and well start to experience some warm and sunshine.
The fog horn down by the lake has been going off for the past 36 hrs as well.
I do like to hear that sound though, just wish that it only had to occur due to fog right at the lake area, not up here on the hill.
Makes for some romantic sleeping weather, the chill, rain sounds and the fog horn.
Today as I walked back from the bus stop, two crows met me.
My crows I reckon.
So I asked them if they were comin for a treat.
They followed me home, flying from tree to tree along my path,
then one waiting in the tree in my backyard, whilst the other sat upon my neighbour's garage.
I went inside and trimmed some fat from some of the bacon I had defrosted Sunday,
then laid it upon the fence rail.
Sure enough, as I stepped away, they both swooped in to feast upon the offering.
I really enjoyed their meeting me on my way home.
This is the third time I've noticed one or more following me.
Mom's home!
What's for dinner?
I like that they fly free, and aren't like birds trapped in some homes.
I believe birds should fly free, for all to enjoy, in their natural habitat.
(I know some people who are heavy (chain) smokers and keep some very large cages stacked one atop the other in two columns, filled with all sorts of birds and I cannot help but think that is abuse as their home is like a cloud - how can that be fair or healthy to those birds.)
I filled my feeders yesterday, but I really need a new suet cake and to get a replacement dish or tray for my birdbath as it cracked last winter and will no longer hold water. I've temporarily placed a plastic plant dish in there, but that too is cracked and leaking.
When I visited Lake Superior Garden Center last weekend I saw many birdbaths as well as yard decor that I would love to have purchased, if the prices were more affordable.
At this time, I prefer to spend the little discretionary cash on plants or bird seed than expensive decor or a pricey birdbath. Some were smaller and more affordable, but, still more than I intend to spend at this time.
Perhaps for my birthday I will throw caution to the wind and just buy whatever.
Then again, I want to leave here soon and don't want to spend money on something I cannot take with me, or would really have no room for.
Well the old clock on the wall says it's time to find my warm, soft flannel sheets.
Cheers!
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S.
