Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Fourteen (12:01am) Should be Thirteen

But I was otherwise engaged. ;-)

More later.

Here's how the scenery looked this morning - they had painted the houses and laid some 'grass' last night after I left/before I arrived today.

Today, I painted two more chairs!Yes, I gave them a second coat later...DUH.

Then I helped to lay the rest of the sod on the upper part between the two houses, as well as trimmed around the houses and the stage edges - someone will tack the stage edges tomorrow.

Not the best pics (I think I need to clean my lens), but it's coming right along.

More tomorrow.

(Friday the Fourteenth)

Friday the Fourteenth
Not that much happened to really blog about.
I went to work - took the bus for the first time in ages.
Douglas was my driver - was fun catchin up with him.
I so love my fave drivers.
Got to work about 9:30a and worked with Jacob til 11a cleaning up the theatre space. Basically this meant putting shit away that had been pulled out from under the stage or the shop, back to where it belonged. We moved HEAPS of stuff. Lights, furniture, doors - tons of doors - some so very heavy (some giving me slivers and bruises), garbage, props, background canvas, tarps and more. After we both had to literally sit for about 10 min and catch our breath (me also to let my back stop spasming from all the heavy lifting.) Jacob's just a lil guy, and he crawled under the stage and I passed him all this stuff, slowly but surely getting it all stowed away.

After, he even wanted to vacuum the theatre, but Jeff had other plans for us - namely to help create the roof pieces for each of the two houses. He and Joel were working on them already cutting the main 'roof' pieces from Styrofoam, and cutting some rolls of thinner styro insulation (or?) into shingles. Jacob and I joined in and were to apply the shingles to the roof - gluing them with this odd foam glue from a gun, and placing them in rows to look like shingles on a roof.

We got nearly done, when along came Jeff, all up in arms about the way they layout went - seems that the shingles went crooked along about midway through the piece. I was following the lines from Jacobs end, and he had inadvertently not kept true to the line. Oops.

Jeff and Joel started fixing it, and had to bail, as they had more important things to do - and I didn't want Jeff to remain disappointed at our work, so I surveyed the piece and where to make the changes, then set about with Jacob to correct the directionals. When I felt it was sorted, I called Joel over, and he was impressed - we had fixed it. He mentioned that for the next piece maybe lines should be drawn or some sort of guides - a good idea.

Jacob had to leave, and I still had a few minutes, so Joel and I worked with chalk lines to draw out the next piece, until I had to go. Jeff was gone to lunch or somewhere, but hopefully when he returned, he was happy with the corrections made too. I forgot to take pics of today's work :(

After that I went to meet my Census buds for pizza and beer at Sammy's. I was so drained, hungry, and ready to just relax with them all. I walked up to Superior St and took a bus down the five blocks to the Transit Center - it was snowing all day and too slippery to walk - especially given how sore and tired I was.

We had a nice lunch, and visited for a while, and then it was time to go. I almost went back to work, but instead decided to go with ¡Tomas! to wait for the bus. Mine wouldn't come for nearly 30 min., but his was due in 10, so we sat and caught up some. He is really a great guy and always good to talk to. Later I quick ran up to the office and dropped off some photos to scan later, then headed back down to wait for my bus - which was nearly 10 min late.

On the way home I became so sleepy - I've not slept well all week - finally falling asleep at like 4-5 am, and getting up and to work by 9-10a, then working very physical days, then coming home to shovel as it's been snowing for days. As I trudged through the snow/slush from the bus stop to my house I literally could have just fallen asleep, dragging myself along knowing that my bed awaited.

Yes. I was going to take a nap. A well deserved and much needed rest awaited.
I didn't sleep the deep sleep I had hoped for, but a nap was had none-the-less from 330-7p.
Then I had to drag my butt outta bed. I decided I needed to run an errand, and also needed to shovel to get to my car in the garage, and also snow-blow to clear the huge ridge of crud the plow left when it came by on Thursday afternoon. Oh yay.

An hour later, I had cleared enough to get out and run the errand, taking with me the gas can for the blower as it was nearly empty and I'd surely be needing to do heaps more snow removal on Saturday, or Sunday, if I can get away with waiting. There is an ordinance here that you have to shovel within 24 hrs of snowfall, or be ticketed - and they can also come along and clean up for you, and give you a bill for that too. fuckers. I mean, what if I was out of town or sick? Hopefully I'd be able to find someone to do it for me in my absence. Glad that for now, I am able. It just sucks that to go anywhere or after a long day, I have to stop and clean that crap up too. I really need to move out of here and rid myself of this chore - and snow for good.

The rest of the evening was spent reading, online and, off, and enjoying some wine.

Nothing to exciting or eventful.
