Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Sundays Off!

My first real Sunday off in months.
Sure I've had one off now and again:
for my school BWCA course camping trip,
then Mother's Day, the 4th of July, and my birthday.
Since March.
But not ever having to work a Sunday again (hopefully ever) is soooo wonderful.
Saturdays were hard enough, (since February) and working all the crazy hours and schedule changes since that time have taken their toll, mainly in my sleep patterns and home life.

I even fell asleep early last night and then sleep pretty hard all night, waking only from 345-5 then back to sleep until 830. I nearly missed my favourite Sunday show, ABC Sunday Morning! Another reason I love Sundays so much. That and breakfast with my son, when he is here. Today he was. He came in late, and had to work at 10a, so we didn't have breakfast together, but I always like to make him some anyway and send him off with a lunch too. I also sent some treats along for his sister as he thought she was working too.

It's gorgeous out today too; clear blue skies, sunny and a nice breeze. I have a few things to tend to indoors that I've neglected, and then I am going to spend the day outside and later grill Red Snapper for dinner. I expect a visit from a friend too, which will really top off the day.

More later.

My friend arrived as expected. The grill was not cooperating as it wouldn't stay lit, but after adding much more lighter fluid and invoking a Homer Simpson like fire ignition, things were finally under way. The snapper turned out well - this time I had seasoned it only with the Chef Paul's seasoning I like to sometimes use on my other fish and prawns. It didn't overtly flavour the fish, as it was mainly into the outer flesh but did add a little to compliment and to the juices in the foil. My friend really enjoyed the dinner, especially commenting on the fish's tasting so good, which was very nice to hear. (He is always very complimentary, even when it's nothing fancy - and of all the people I have prepared meals for, he's always the one to say very nice things and thank me, which I really appreciate.) I really don't do anything special, as I think snapper is pretty good on it's own. We also had some fresh veggies from the garden, and farmer's market, as well as some cheater instant garlic mashed potatoes. I was going to make a couple more dishes, but I really spent a lot of today cleaning my much neglected house, and what we did have was pretty filling on it's own, as well as being a nice light summer meal. It was fun to sit and pick at the fish together, laughing about the way we eat it. I sent the head home with him for his snacking pleasure. (He said he would devour it caveman style if I was not watching! So who was I to deprive him? Enjoy! Sorry crows - but he is more important than you to deserve this...delicacy?)

He returned my things to me and we settled in to go over the work I had done on his laptop. It runs so much more smoothly than when he first brought it over, and much faster too due to the extra RAM added. It was nice to be able to give it back to him actually working properly. He had thought he might have to save up and buy a new one, but this one, as old as it is, runs very well now - like new really. I had found that I could still get his original recovery disk, which was a bonus, as his machine had a program to make them, but was unable to do so due to all the issues it was having. It felt so good to be able to do this work for him at such a minimal cost. I really like helping him out and it also gave me the opportunity to work on my own skills. I hope it serves him well for a long time, and that if he has issues in the future, I'd be the one he comes to for help. We still need to sort his webcam drivers, and I need to burn him a disk of the things that were on his machine before formatting.

All in all it was a very nice evening, and went by very fast. It was good to laugh and share stories again, and see him in a much better mood, as I had been worrying about him and missing him too. It is always a pleasure to be around him and to share a meal with him as well. A few hugs later and we were all squared away for the time being. ¡Gracias por una tarde muy agradable y abrazos mi amigo! ¡Buenas Noches!
