Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Oww

My hips hurt.
AND not for THE 'good' reason.
But, for A good reason.
I started walking to work.
Funny huh - especially since my job may be ending soon.
Better late than never I guess.
Make hay while the sun shines and all that rot.

I had wanted to walk to work - well thought about it anyway
for quite some time.
I don't live that far,
and a Google search on Saturday when I was bored at work revealed
it was only 2.5 miles and could be done in 45 minutes. Simple!
I did it in 43. Today, about 40!
Go me!

This could be ok, but a bit much some days when I want to start at 730,
but then again, it just might be the thing to help with more weight loss,
and to wake me up more before getting to work,
(and also make me want to sleep more in the afternoon - HA!)
as well as appreciate the nice weather while it lasts.
So I started yesterday - see prev post.

And since I didn't have to work until 1030a,
decided to carry on again today.
The route is pretty much all down-hill or flat.
But some of the streets are much more steep than others.

Tomorrow, I have a game at 9p,
and as sore as my hips are
(this is a lot of weight for my hips to keep from rolling like a giant snowball down the hills and not killing innocents)
I may have to pass so I can move during my game.

I also feel it in my right knee (under the knee cap I haz arf-righteous - yes, as young as I am - years of volleyball abuse the doc says - what does he know - it was from...nevermind.)
I also got shin-splintz.
And tonight - sore ankles.
Damn.
I am way more out of shape than I thought.
But like Dave Letterman would say,
"It's a good kind of hurt."

Right?
Right.
G'nite.

Here are some random pics from my walk today:

I am kicking myself for not taking one of the Hydrangea I picked up which had been mowed off it's parent bush, and of the child lying in the window at the plasma donation place downtown while waiting for his parents. That last one is etched in my head - one of those - for your eyes only shots I guess.

Oh yeah, and the birdhouse was down!

I noticed over the weekend that the front seemed to have peck marks or something around the outside of the entry hole. I had wondered if a predatory bird (those evil hawk/falcon thingys) got to it - as it seemed as if mom and the rock stars had all flown the coop - or were EATEN!
Anyway, I snapped this shot of it laying in the strawberry bed below. Then I picked it up to notice the bottom was also loose ( you could see the sticks used for the nest and bird fluff n stuff inside) on the one side where the little latch had given way some, and that one of the nails to hold the hanger to the back of the house had come loose. I gently pushed the bottom up tighter, and replaced the nail and rehung the house. I seriously think the former family left - it seemed on Saturday that momma and the birdies were flittin about between the next door neighbour's weeded back area (like a camo hiding place) and the tall evergreen shrubs of the neighbour across the alley. I am hoping they are all ok and hit the time to move on. It was fun to watch these past couple of months, and I know that if I see no activity, I'll pull the house back down and make the repairs and clean it out for the next family.
