Suarez really pushed hard as well,
despite the rude boos from the crowd.
Almost, Uruguay. Almost.
I really didn't want Germany to take 3rd.
Ah well.
On to Spain and the Netherlands tomorrow.
I guess I pick Spain, as I really don't want the Netherlands to win.
Still wish it was one of the Americas - Next time guys.
Today was such an easy day.
Worked 730a-1230p
Hit the Taste of Greece up at Marshall School for some really yummy Greek Food to go.
A gyro, souvlaki, spanikopita, and some baklava - for today. (Yes it was a lot - but it was lunch AND dinner.) I really need to learn how to make some of this stuff (I have made spanikopita - mmm) but I love to go to the festival too - take some time, watch the dancers, check out the other items and just breathe in the smell of the meats grilling and take it all in.
I'll go back tomorrow for more, and bring back something for my daughter as she has to work.
Hopefully she'll be bringing her scissors and trading me a haircut for the food.
I couldn't really take much more advantage of the things going on around town due to work and the cup - although I could have taped the cup game, but I wanted to watch it live as I have had to tape most of them due to work and also sit in the sun while watching with my Greek food, a beer and just relax.
At the game's end, I sent a text to my friend who was down in the cities watching the games with his family and friends, about the close game, and I was a little bummed he never replied. I had taped many games for him, and we watched a few together as well, and I wanted to share the moment with him, as well as these last few games - but his head is in a different place I guess. Too bad, as it would have been nice to have a reply. His brother would often call when we were watching games here, so I really thought it would be no big deal to text him. Guess I was wrong.
Ah well. Hope he has fun tomorrow anyway with all of them and the festivities - he needs it and the break, and to be surrounded by them all - celebrating as if he were in a different country with people who all share a love for the sport. I wish there were more people here who liked the sport and followed the tournament as I would have loved to have a Cup party or attend one too. Next time.
Heard from a few people online tonight too as I sat outside on the deck. What a gorgeous evening it was - til about 945 when the mozzies tried to make me dinner and I was forced inside. Now a storm is coming; the winds have picked up, some heat lightning and far off thunder has started - mmm fresh rain smell and cool breezes for sleeping. Perfect.
¡Adios y Buena Noche Amigos!
¡Abrazos!
