Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Trabajo, el sol, la copa mundial, amigos y la luna.

Work, the sun, the World Cup, friends and the moon.

That was pretty much today in a nutshell.

When I arrived for work today; we were locked out and I was left with task of calling managers until I could find someone to come let us in. I had to relinquish my key two weeks ago, and when I asked for it back, it was deemed unnecessary for me to have one. Well, that went out the door today.

Once there, the day was slow, and boring, as per usual. So many of us came in and there was literally no work to do. It would have made more sense to have us all work M-F for the next two weeks, on the day and evening shift, giving us the weekend off (as a thank you if you will for putting up with the fucked up schedule us weekenders are forced to put up with) letting our lives be a bit normal for just two weeks rather than pay 20+ people to sit around for 8 hrs doing nothing until the next operation begins. This whole production over and over again proves such a waste. A waste of time, resources, lives, money and shows no obvious common sense. But hey, who are we to come up with practical solutions - we're just the weekenders.

The bonus was: we were locked out for 45 min, and still got paid, and after our boss let us in, she also went and picked up donuts for everyone. I felt bad I had to wake her because someone dropped the ball in making sure that the weekenders had a key to get in to do their job on time. But, then again, managers are well compensated for their roles.

The sun shown brightly today - it was such a nice change after so many days of rain. It clouded up for just a but around 10-11 am, but then returned to partly cloudy, then full on blue sky for my bus ride home at lunch to reset the VCR for the Argentina vs Mexico game (3-1). I had a nice convo with my driver friend and after a short break, headed back down to work on his return. He was the lucky recipient of a freshly ripened strawberry and some chocolates for an afternoon treat and in celebration of El Sol's return! YAY!

He asked about the prawn man who came Friday and I mentioned that I only bought snapper, and that I was going to grill it for dinner - and invited him to come if he'd like. Bus noises blocked his reply, but later in the day the offer was accepted and he arrived bringing a nice salad. A meal and the Argentina match, as well as conversation was shared for the evening's events. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable time between friends.

Later I received a call from him asking if I could see la Luna. I looked out the front, trying to see, and too many trees/leaves were in the way, so I ran upstairs to the windows and could just barely see it there above the neighbour's rooftops. I quick found my camera and captured this photo to show how obscured it was from my vantage point:

Buenas Noches.
