Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Nubarrones y La Luna

or
Thunderheads(Storm Clouds) & The Moon

So on my way to volleyball tonight the sky was amazing. So much so I took a detour up to the Coppertop Church to take advantage of the view and photographic opportunities from it's vantage point high above the Lake, very hurriedly, so as not to be late for my game.

As I was driving there, I also sent a text message to my mate, imploring him to run up there and take some pics as well, if he could.

Upon arrival I notice an older woman with her camera, as well as a man with a tripod, both of which had had the same idea I had - to capture the spectacular view before it was gone.

I only had minutes, as I had to be at a 9p game up over the hill at Country Lanes, and didn't want to be late. (I literally arrived with one minute to spare, but the game didn't start on time. *whew*)

After taking several shots and a couple of panoramas as well, I jumped in the car and sped up to the mall area. All along the way, the view kept changing, metamorphosing into one of more and more colour, and spectacular clouds. I wished I had had a driver so I could just take photos the whole way there.

Once I arrived, I was mesmerised by the view which earlier had presented itself over the lake, and now had seemed to move along with me, ending up over and behind the courts where I was playing ( as if it had moved south, from the east). After only minutes, it changed dramatically, then was gone, leaving the moon, and just darker clouds, where once the pinks and oranges colouring the thunderheads had taunted us to stand with mouths agape at their splendor. I so wanted to just take more photos, as I knew the time to capture these images was extremely limited.

The view was, as my mate would say, "For your eyes only."

*sigh*

Here are the pics I managed to capture on my way to my game (click to enlarge):

Oops, my bad, two moons in that one,
guess I should have been a little more careful in my panorama overlap
*shrugs*
(Hey! I was in a hurry!)

Wash my windscreen.
Sunset - and to think,
I was getting an error and a huge stripe when I snapped this into the sunset,
but it sure turned out nice.
Too bad I wasn't somewhere more remote to avoid the light poles and signage.
Such is life.

These last shots don't even do justice to the views I witnessed then and afterwards.
