Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Dos

Ha!
Tom at work calls me Dos.
He is Uno, Linda is Tres.
¡El Tres Amigos!
It started as something to do with a conversation about Two Harbors.
I laughed and said that my other boss Neill and I call it Dos Harberos
We're dorks, what can I say.
Shortly after, Tom would see me coming to work and give a friendly wave, "Dos!"
I'd laugh.

Today was 2 good in some ways and still 2 bad, in others.

Good in the sense I had the day off and went with my ex to visit my son for his frat house Parent's Day BBQ. The drive down allowed for us to catch up some on our lives as well as on both of the children's goings on. I don't recall that two hour plus drive going by that fast in a long time.

Once we reached the house, we were met by Sam, and he gave us a tour. It was a big old house but has been going some very nice renovations. It had lots of space for the boys to use - a huge kitchen, party lounge, several gathering areas as well as a big board room-like study upstairs, not to mention their own rooms - some big, some small, but really pretty nice. We talked, and had a grilled lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, pop and bars all provided by the boys. We could sit inside or out on their front patio/deck area which faced University Ave. It was a nice day, but very windy - If I didn't know better, when the clouds blocked the sun and the wind blew - I could have sworn it was coming right off the lake (Lake Superior) only thing is, that lake was 150 miles north. Perhaps we brought that chill down with us. Later we were given a speech from the house president, and an opportunity to talk to some of the house members about the changes, fees, and pledge situation. After visiting with a few more families and uploading the photos I took during the event to my son's macbook, it was time to hit the road.

Again, my ex and I talked a lot all the way home, making the return trip just as quick as before. It was nice to chat with him, and talk again. It had been awhile and I feel it's good we can, unlike some people I know who have trouble communicating with their mates or ex's. We couldn't do that so well when we were married - but over time, it's changed to be easier.

After I returned home, I readied a bit of a chocolate cake treat I had picked up at the Farmer's Market to share with my friend (a pre-cinco de Mayo treat) and drove out to pay him a visit on his break. He had sent a nice text earlier in the day to ask how my day was going. A very nice surprise. Funny too, as I received it just as my son was hugging me hello, and when I read it, it ended with 'Abrasos'. I felt I was doubly hugged (dos abrazos) and I really needed all of them.

Thanks guys.
¡Abrazos!

(I've decided not to write about the bad - I feel it's just better today to share the good.)
