Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Cinco de Mayo

It was, and I really missed celebrating it beyond having the last of my Zantigo Green Chili Burritos.

Today was a day of reflection, sadness, and support as I attended my friend Linda's husband Ken's funeral. It was very nice, held in a small church on Park Point. Her two sons, Eli and Luke gave the most amazing eulogies about their father from previously exchanged emails over time - I could only hope to get such an insightful and 'intense' email from my own children. They also served to remind me, that I am way overdue in sending such emails to my own parents, while they are still here.

Then afterwards, in the gathering room over coffee and bars, we all watched slide show compilations on projected screens via computer. Family shots, shots of Ken and the boys throughout their lives, and shots of Ken and Linda over the years. Man I was envious of their perfect family closeness and togetherness.

Ken's father gave an eulogy as well, reflecting back to the time when Ken lost his contracting/construction job and at 33 went back to school to become an Accountant - against all odds he said. Obviously he was quite successful as his hard work afforded the family countless necessities, amenities, trips and educations.

Ken, Linda and the boys really were very lucky to have had such supportive family members and relatives, as well as be so blessed by all they have shared.

Later on at work, I looked out the window and noticed a Rainbow over the DECC area of the Point. I decided it was Ken's rainbow, and was there to let us know that he is in a more beautiful place, as well as a bit of an ending tribute to his funeral day.

Peace Ken
I'll miss your hugs.
You have an awesome wife and sons.
I know you must have been very proud of them all.

Cheers!
I'll watch over Linda, and hook her up at Blues Fest,
but you will most certainly be missed.
