Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Remnants of a Pale Orange Chiffon Sunrise after a Leonid Shower pre-dawn

Unable to stay awake until midnight, I missed the start of the Leonids, but I did happen to wake just before 4am and went to my daughter's room and had a look up at the sky. It was still very dark, the only light - a lamp post in the neighbour's backyard - fortunately, with a dim cast. I was able to see a few meteors flash across the sky. Unwilling to be awake too long and get too cold, I returned to my toasty flannel sheets. As tempted as I was to go outside for more viewing, the attraction of snuggling back into a warm sleep won out.

Shades of Pale Oranges, Peach, Peach Orange, Peach Yellow and Pink Orange and Salmon against winter grey to pale fog grey below to bright white above the sun itself, the sun being a more Amber to Orange Peel in colour.

Without my camera, it was pointless to try to capture it with my mobile phone whilst moving on a bus.

A voice saying, "For your eyes only" played in my head.

Leaving the house at 7:18am, there was a thick frost on the grass, cars and street. At the stop on 19th the view was of the sun's upper half bright with the grey clouds below and all the shades of orange mentioned above to the sides and the sky above being the pale fog grey. The sky surrounding the sun matches the lace camisole I am wearing.

After boarding the bus and traveling down 8th Street to 9th, the sun would dip below or behind the winter grey clouds above the lake. At times there looked to be two suns. The real one above and a bright ball of fire below on/just above the lake. Moving down 6th Ave E, the sun became higher, more prominent, and below and to the right you could just see a ship in the fog - the shades of grey, the sun's reflection and the fog gave a ghost-like cast to the ship anchored on the lake. I managed to capture this shot from the bus window -which I thought was crap at the time - in it you can only just see the ship to the right of the church in the bottom of the pic. Notice how I captured a crow in flight as well. LOLAt times the sun's reflection instead of looking like a second sun, thickened and elongated appearing to be a column of sun - it was the most spectacular display I had ever witnessed of the sun rising over the lake; again wishing I had been able to photograph it and remembering Renan's words, "For your eyes only."

Some pics I cam-grabbed once I got to work showing the ship and remnants of the orange sky and the fog rolling around:
