Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. Street Update!

So this morning I was awakened by an odd loud sound, or sounds as there were two.
As my head cleared and I concentrated, it became clear this was another of the unsmistakable sounds of the Spring.
Street Cleaners.
That time of year again.
Time to scoop up all the leftover salt, sand, leaves, garbage, gravel, and bitumen patch from the avenues about town.

As I mentioned previously, the City workers come round in the fall, first running the street cleaner, if they feel like it, and then in a few days follow up with half-ass shoveling some bitumen patch in the plethora of potholes in the cement.

One guy to drive and four or five stand around shoveling and/or tamping if a bit of the patch falls near them. The rest is left to be run over by cars. Nice huh. Your (well mine) tax dollars at work. I almost took pics of this last fall *curses self* (Hell - Give me my own trailer full of patch, a shovel and I'll fill my area (and the alley - tomorrow's post LOL), make sure it's tamped down properly and early enough in the season to do any good.)

Before cleaning:

Yes this is all bits, as miniscule as some are with only a small bit of grass clippings mixed in from mowing. (there are still many smaller bits in the boulevard as I didn't fetch a finer rake)

After Cleaning (two passes in my area by one cleaner, one by the second.) See! I wasn't lyin was I?

Hmmm, looky here down the end of the block. Cars parked along the lower side(even) of the street prohibit the cleaners from doing that side of the street thoroughly, so that'll cost another pass next week (if they remember) and in the meantime, one hopeful neighbour on the corner had raked their patch bits and this last section was missed as it was too close to the vehicle to be able to brush any closer.Later the car moved (see the pile down the block there in front of the corner house):
In front of my footpath steps:
Up the block (notice the cars parked that side of the block for this week):

I realise this Sun has been used in a previous post. I am using it again as it hasn't been featured in this May Theme and also as it is a member of the Outdoor Sun Family. There is also the fact that this post about my street spans fall to spring seasons; winter is in between.
