Amante de Sol

"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."........................................................... ~Hunter S. 6.4.09

A bit windy, but the Sun was glorious.

Days like this make me eager for my evening job to start next week so I can enjoy them for more than a few hours after work.

The bank clock read 50F as I passed on the way to the bus stop. I have a feeling it was a bit off as the wind off the lake was cool, and the clock was still off by an hour as well. I'd have guessed more 40 than 50, but the sun was warm out of the wind nonetheless.

Once home, I fired up the Weber for dinner, then retreated to season some prawns and chicken breast tenders, as well as ready a bit of butternut squash, onions and red potatoes for the coals.

As usual, my pets came along looking for their handouts. Who was I to disappoint them. For their dinner selection, I set out a tray with the prawn tails/entrails and chicken breast fat trimmings as they watched from high up in my maple tree, cawing at me all along. They know when my grill is lit, their invitation is set. Somehow, they seem to sense this even when I am using the stove top or oven as well. They spy on me from the tree I reckon.
As I checked the prawns, one grew less timid about the pan of food being in such close proximity to a human mucking about nearby. (It may have also helped that I baited them some with a few morsels on the rail of the deck nearby the pan. Eyeing me up, (s)he finally got the courage to land there and partake, then retreated back to a branch above. Afterwards, instead of the usual CAW CAW, I noticed some low throaty almost mourning dove-like sounds coming from the one.

A thank you perhaps?
(The pan of treats is behind and to the left of the blue pot on the right.
I had to make a bit of a barrier out of the pots so they wouldn't
knock it off the table in their gluttonous feeding frenzy.)
Thinking about it, I have been feeding them now for over 10 years.
No wonder they love me.
Damn those rays look nice. Not bad for a mobile phone shot hey.
